Review - An Unlikely Blessing

Book - An Unlikely Blessing by Judy Baer

Publisher - Guideposts

Description from the publisher:
"An Unlikely Blessing is a heartfelt story about a new pastor and life-long city dweller Alex Armstrong, who reluctantly accepts his first assignment, a two-point parish in the wilds of North Dakota. Hilltop Township, a farming community, blooms from the prairie like a wild pink rose—lovely and prickly all at once, much like the people who live there."

My Thoughts:

It is not very often that I dislike a book. It is hard to explain why, in this case. I appreciate the author's intention to write a Christian book and share a good message. That is always important. However, the way this story was written made it difficult for me to get into. In some cases there were too many adjectives thrown in, when one would have been enough. In other cases, the choice in language seemed shallow and uneducated.  Overall, I would have to say it is a good story, but to get to the message, you have to wade through some "fluff."

*Disclosure - This is part of a litfuse blog tour. I received this book from the publisher for review purposes."
