It's almost unavoidable

There ought to be a law that the two major political parties have to conduct their conventions in such a manner that those of us who don't want to be bothered by speculation about how voters will react don't have to disappear into the woods until November.
I don't know what's worse. It seems that all we get today is sound bites and snippets taken out of context. That's not much of an improvement... heck, it's no improvement over the 'olden days' when every minute of every speech at the convention was aired. Back then, it seems that all regular programming was preempted. Then I guess enough parents got up in arms because their kids had nothing to watch on TV that the networks eliminated some of the coverage.
I propose that the conventions should take place simultaneously, just like NFL, MLB and NBA games. Networks can pick which convention they'll cover. Have C-span provide the video feed. Then let the public determine which convention, if any, they wish to observe.

BTW - all this talk about qualifications to perform the job is okay, but in the end the real question is, are the voters qualified to determine who's qualified?

Another thought - I'm sure happy that we don't see the type of campaigning that went on during the 19th Century where candidates would stand up and give speeches for two and three hours.
